Located on an elevated mesa overlooking Sedona, Arizona. Sedona Airport (ICAO: KSEZ) often caters to private jet charters escorting visitors who wish to take in the flora and fauna of this new age natural mecca. Sedona airport has been a public airport in operation since 1956 and has one runway that has been paved since 1960. Sedona Airport also has one helipad, and helicopter charters are available. Located 115 miles north of Phoenix, AZ and 30 miles south of Flagstaff, AZ, the airport sits just south of the city of Sedona and caters to most private jet charters. Commercial airlines cannot land at Sedona Airport as the runway cannot accommodate the takeoff and landing needs of large commercial airliners. Unlike most airports, Sedona Airport has a different IATA (International Air Transportation Association airport code) and FAA LID (Federal Aviation Administration Location Identifier). This is because Sedona Airports' FAA LID (SEZ) was already assigned to Seychelles International Airport in Mahé, Seychelles. As a result, Sedona Airport's IATA is SDX.
